Seven questions with sophomore KMEA singer Caitlin Alley

Seven questions with sophomore KMEA singer Caitlin Alley

What is KMEA and when will you audition for it?

KMEA is a state choir that you audition for with a bunch of kids from Kansas high schools. We audition Saturday, Nov. 10.

How do you feel about being selected to audition for KMEA?

I feel lucky to be able to audition because it’s a big thing and I’m a first-timer.

Was there a lot of competition for these spots?

We had to audition for the soprano and alto sections, but it was friendly competition. I’m a soprano.

Was your audition nerve-wracking?

It wasn’t really nerve-wracking. It was just in front of Mrs. Stoppel.

What work have you done to prepare yourself to audition for this spot?

Definitely practiced my music. I went to Mrs. Stoppel and asked what would make me the best.

Which choir are you a part of here at school?

Jag Chorale.

Do you sing publicly other than here at school?

I sing in the worship team at my church, called Westbrook Church. I also sing in the Allegro Kansas City choir. The one I’m in is called Allegro Con Moto. It’s made of girls from sixth grade to sophomore year.
