A little goes a long way
Don’t let makeup define you
Ladies, we all have those days when we wake up and we just don’t feel like ourselves until we have some mascara and concealer on our face. We don’t feel pretty enough for anyone to pay us any extra attention so what do we do? We try and make ourselves beautiful by putting on a bunch of makeup. While it may make us feel better about ourselves, we don’t need a lot to be attractive.
Let’s face it, no one looks drop-dead gorgeous when they wake up. Everyone has to do something to get ready before going out to take on the world. But is “putting on our face” one of the things girls should be worried about?
No one likes it when girls are standing there doing their makeup while people are trying to wash their hands in the bathroom. It actually makes it a little awkward when they’re staring themselves down in the mirror. I wish we would just stop and think about why we wear it. Our friends are going to love us for who we are, not what we look like. And if it’s the guys you’re trying to impress, they are the same way. If they can’t accept you for what you look like, don’t go to the trouble of decking yourself out because it’s not worth it. If you were meant to be, they’ll like you no matter what you look like.
Makeup was intended for covering up bumps and blemishes and now we use it to completely remodel our faces. Let’s use it how we should and cut back on the eyeliner. Try using less every day and go for a more natural look. You may like the change and other people might, too.
Society has taught us to critique ourselves and try to look a certain way when really we should just be ourselves. I’m not saying that makeup should be discarded completely, because we may need a little touchup here and there. But don’t hide behind it. As much as you may want to look like the next Victoria Secret model or CoverGirl advertisement, you don’t have to junk up your face to do so. Just be proud to be yourself.
