The ninth annual art show that portrayed student’s art work was held at the Country Club Café Thursday April 21 to Friday May 6. It was a chance for students in all art classes to show their artistic ability. Art teacher Jodi Ellis thinks that this show had an electric array of artistic imagery.
“I think it is some of the highest caliber of art that we have shown so far,” Ellis said.
Junior Olivia Beashore entered a piece from her Sculpture II class.
“My sculpture is a hollowed out heart and it has a tree in the middle of it connecting to all sides of the heart and then on top of the heart there is a stem with two leaves on it. It shows the parent-child relationship, which is what I am really interested in right now,” Beashore said.
This is the first show that Beashore has been to and the first show that she has submitted work to.
According to Ellis, the art department has submitted over 130 pieces by 50 students, and this show was by far the biggest.
With so many pieces submitted, there was not a set theme.
“The work that was submitted was what students were working on during class,” Beashore said. “It gives the AP Studio Art students a chance to explore different techniques than what a normal art class covers.”
