Blog: Brand names are boring

It’s about time we put less emphasis on the cost and brand name of our clothes and more on the way they make us look and feel. What’s the use in paying $40 for Pink yoga pants when you can’t pull them off? Okay, maybe that’s not the best example, let’s face it: everyone looks good in yoga pants, they’re like a push-up bra for your butt. The point is, why spend money on pricey brand names just because everyone else does? Let’s be individuals now, ladies.

If you want to walk the halls of Mill Valley and not look like every other UGG wearing, Northface clad, Vera Bradley wielding drone, thrift shops are an ideal way to stand out from the crowd.

With the rising popularity of thrift shops (thanks, Macklemore) it’s easier to get more bang for your buck. There’s tons of options too: Ditto, Rocket Clothing Exchange, Savers, Plato’s Closet and, if you’re extra daring, Goodwill. The clothes are stylish, cheap and definitely one of a kind.

Due to the fact the clothes are so wonderfully cheap, they are great for anyone who grows faster than leg hair, whether that be horizontally or vertically. Don’t make your parents spend tons of money on Miss Me jeans if they’re going to turn into high-waters in a month. Instead, pop some tags at a thrift shop.

If you spend $50 to look like a walking billboard for some boring brand name, reevaluate your style.
