Blog: Fishing for compliments
We all know what goes down in the comments section when Selfie Sunday rolls around. You compliment your friend on her picture and instead of saying “thank you” (like a normal person) she says something along the lines of “OMG no I’m not.” You are surprised by said response and reply “yes you are!!” However, when she rejects your compliment once again, you have no choice but surrender to her stubbornness. Fine friend, I guess you’re not pretty.
Hook, line and sinker; she’s gone fishing, for compliments. You’re not fooling anybody, friend. By putting up that photo, it’s implied you like the way you look. Ladies, don’t be that friend. Just say thank you.
Not only is fishing for compliments irritating to those trying to be nice to you, but being confident is one of the most valuable traits to have. There will be people who have nothing but negative things to say about you, but you should not be one of them.
