Blog: Pulling off pixie cuts

More from Beauty Boss

Miley did it. Jennifer Lawrence did it. And if you walk down the halls, you’re more than likely to spot a handful of short haired females who also did it. Left and right, females are hacking off their locks. The “pixie cut movement” is running rampid throughout Mill Valley whether it’s to emulate the stars,  or just simply in the name of  change.

While I can’t speak from experience, I can only imagine the practicality of the low maintenance necessary for short hair. The benefits seem endless. Not only would one save money on shampoo, but also valuable time that would typically be spent caring for longer hair. Styling would be as simple as blowdrying and applying product as one’s  straightener would most definitely become obsolete.

I myself, if even for a split-second, toyed with the idea. However, such contemplations soon were squashed by the reality of my painfully round face and undefined cheekbones, possibly the least flattering face shape for pixie cuts. Therefore, while others may pull off the look in a Miley-esque fashion, my own attempt at a pixie cut would likely result in a striking resemblance to Dora the Explorer’s counterpart, Diego.

If you’re looking for a change, or just to take off some time from your morning routine, one might consider making the plunge and getting a pixie. Inspiration is bountiful as the “pixie cut movement” makes its way to the halls of Mill Valley.
