While it was hard to accept the fact that Hostess filed for bankruptcy and shut down, I’m about to make your life more miserable than it already is thanks to your lack of Twinkies. McDonald’s is, in fact, shutting down as well.
Ok, so I lied about the latter. However, I do know that they are going to lose a lot of money from the majority of the female population who have now lost their desire for Big Macs, French fries and milkshakes after watching the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. The fashion show, which aired on Tuesday, Dec. 4 on CBS, is an annual broadcasted television special that is meant to show off the store’s lingerie.
Every year on the night the fashion show airs, the predictable tweets from girls ensue: “Well it looks like I’m not going to eat anymore,” “The Angels are making me feel so insecure,” or “I wish I had a body like that.” I understand the fact that these half-naked models who represent about two percent of American girls have nearly unnaturally perfect bodies that girls desire; it’s a timeless issue that’s been brought up in the media frequently. Heck, if there was a fashion show televised with muscular male models that had a perfect build, I would feel the same way. I see where girls are coming from, but I think these expected tweets need to stop. They’re not original, they’re often coming from girls who are fishing for compliments and I have to mention the fact that they take over my Twitter timeline.
It’s cliché, but every girl should remember that body figures all come in different sizes and shapes. Girls need to keep this in mind rather than complaining to Twitter about their insecurities. A low self esteem isn’t attractive; chances are, the guys who tuned into the fashion show to stare at the eye candy find your average, healthy body much more attractive. But publicly displaying a lack of confidence over something so unreasonable takes away from that. Learn to be happy with yourself; don’t let the Victoria’s Secret Angels bring you down.
Plus, all the girls got to watch Justin Bieber perform on the special. I wonder if they at least enjoyed that.
