Blog: Busy month for StuCo

StuCo has had a busy past few weeks. We hosted a blood drive on Thursday, Oct. 25 and have the first two weeks of November booked with a food drive and a powder puff game.

We exceeded our goal of 91 units of blood donated by three units. This has been one of the first times that we have exceeded our goal within the past few years.

On Tuesday, Oct. 30 StuCo members and other student volunteers collected can donations from the surrounding neighborhoods. I was pleased when the trunk of my car was filled with bags of cans within an hour and a half of going door-to-door.

StuCo is hosting a food drive the week of Monday, Nov. 5. The food drive will also be a part of the class completions. Each grade will have a designated container to put their canned goods in and StuCo will count them at the end of each day.

We are always hosting events to help raise awareness and funds for other organizations. To get the best results we like to make our fundraisers class competitions.

The annual powder puff game will be on Wednesday, Nov. 7 on the soccer field at 7 p.m. The cost to get in is one canned good.

All of the canned goods are going to be donated to the De Soto Multi-Service Center. This service center helps out families in our school district.
