Boys basketball place second at Coffeyville tournament

The Jaguars finished their weekend tournament in Coffeyville, Kan. second out of eight teams.

They won the first two games 60-54 against Parkview High School on Thursday, Jan. 19 and 69-63 against Oologah High School on Friday, Jan. 20.

In the championship on Saturday, Jan. 21, they lost to Word of Life High School, an international team consisting of all seniors that are especially recruited to play for this team.

The Jaguars held the lead until two minutes were left in the game. With a short time left, Word of Life came back to win 54-48.

Junior forward Austin Moylan said that the championship game was a disheartening loss, but a great experience.

“We showed that we can hang with any team, even one with a clear size and overall talent advantage,” Moylan said.
