Varsity boys golf competed at Village Greens Golf Course against Hayden on Monday, April 20.

The boys played well, according to sophomore Ben Swearengin who was pleased with his final score of 98.

“I think I could have done better, but overall I was pretty proud of it,” Swearengin said. “Some of our top players were obviously still a little bit better than me, though.”

While the weather turned out to be much more windy than the weather that the team usually practices in, Swearengin said that he believed the team played well as a whole.

“The rest of my team did really good too,” Swearengin said. “Considering the wind, which we weren’t used to, we all did pretty good.”

According to junior Koy Holden, whose final score was a 96, the other competitors prove to be a hard match.

“[The other competitors] were all pretty good,” Holden said. “They were definitely some tough competition.”

With three invitationals left before regionals and state meets, Holden is looking forward to the rest of the season.

“I’m really hoping that we win the KVL title and get to go to state,” Holden said. “We just need to make sure we’re getting better ever day in practice [to do so].”

The golf team next plays on Tuesday, April 28 at the Shawnee Country Club against Spring Hill.

The results from Monday’s meet are as followed:

Senior Matt Bahle– 90

Junior Koy Holden– 96

Sophomore Ben Swearengin– 98

Senior Devin Thomas– 103

Sophomore Quintin Bossert– 103

Sophomore Kevin McGraw– 107
