Former USD232 social studies teacher Keil Hileman pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted unlawful sexual relations Wednesday, Aug. 14 in Johnson County District Court. Hileman was accompanied by his attorney Scott Gyllenborg in the hearing.
In pleading guilty, Hileman must now register as a sex offender for the next 25 years. Hileman faces a possible sentence of 11-34 months for each count, with sentences running consecutively for a maximum of 68 months.
Mill Valley News first reported Oct. 26, 2022 on Hileman’s arrest on six counts unlawful sexual relations with students, classified as a level seven personal felony, occurring between June 2017 and October 2022. As part of his plea deal with the prosecution, Hileman pleaded guilty to two of the counts.
Following his initial arrest, Hileman has been on house arrest since Oct. 26, 2022, with minor changes occurring on Dec. 11, 2023.
Hileman’s sentencing has been scheduled for Friday, Nov. 8 in person at the Johnson County District Court.
