Broadcast students succeed in school-wide lip dub

The school buzzed with excitement as approximately 350 students stood with their team or organization awaiting the start of a school-wide lip dub on Friday Nov. 9. Every team or group in the school had a designated area in the hallway where they would be filmed as “The Time” by the Black Eyed Peas played from speakers.

Senior Video Production students Hattie Doolittle and Danielle Jenkins led the project.

“We saw other schools do them so we thought we should too, but do our own take on it,” Doolittle said. “[Broadcast teacher Cindy] Swartz was very supportive. She was a big help.”

Doolittle and Jenkins had to take the idea to the administration for approval. Six practices were scheduled, one of those an all-school seminar practice on Thursday, Nov. 8.

“I was a little freaked out at first because I was nervous,” Jenkins said. “After the run-through, I was confident it was going well.

Doolittle said the work and stress paid off, and the day of the lip dub went well.

“We were excited and pumped because we knew what to expect,” Doolittle said. “I was trying to think of who to film next and getting the timing right.”

The video ended in a pep assembly that highlighted school spirit and the success of fall sports.

When the school will get to see the final video has not yet been determined; editing could take several weeks.

“It’s awesome to have something to remember my senior year and time at Mill Valley with,” Doolittle said.
