Club 121 toy drive helps others in need

Club 121 members took donations to Gracepoint Church on Saturday, Dec. 1 for the church’s Give and Take program. The purpose of the program is to collect toys and gently used clothing items, which are then set out at the church and those with low incomes are allowed to come in and shop through the donated items for free. A toy drive was held by Club 121 from Thursday, Nov. 15 to Tuesday, Nov. 20 to collect items to donate to the program.

According to junior Katie Linsey, the drive was a great way to help others in need out.

“We weren’t sure how to give back,” Linsey said. “So we teamed up with Gracepoint to help the less fortunate.”

Club 121 received a total of 520 donations. In addition to helping out for a good cause, this event rewarded class cup points to the class that donated the most items during the drive. The sophomores came in first with the most donations, followed by the juniors, the freshmen, and then the seniors

Linsey believes the drive was a success.

“[The drive] went surprisingly well,” Linsey said. “We were very happy with the amount donated. It will really help benefit families in need in the area.”

The choir will also be taking donations for the Give and Take program at its performance on Monday, Dec. 3.
