Approximately 130 students attended the fourth annual April Fool’s Film Fest on Friday, April 1 in the Little Theater, according to broadcast journalism teacher Cindy Swartz.
The film fest featured four films created by students in Swartz’s Video Production class. Each student submitted a script to Swartz, who chose four scripts to be filmed. The class was then divided into four production teams and the filming and revision process began. Students were also required to sell tickets and advertise the film fest.
“I think [the film fest] went smoothly,” Swartz said. “Usually the students who end up attending film fest already know what they’re expecting…it’s the typical students who like slapstick comedy, Saturday Night Live-type humor.”
Swartz guessed that the April Fool’s Film Fest had double the attendees of the Halloween Film Fest in the fall.
“I think it’s just been on a steady influx of popularity,” Swartz said.
Junior Kyle Hoener, a student in the Video Production class, thought the film fest went well.
“It’s an improvement from last year,” Hoener said. “It had a wider variety of humor.”
