Flix for You: Grease is the word

“Grease” follows the love life of two high school students in the late 1950s

I’m sure you all have heard of this iconic movie; in my opinion, it’s a staple in the filmmaking industry for creating and becoming such a classic movie.

“Grease” is the love story of Sandy and Danny in the year of 1959. The two met over the summer at the beach but had to part ways because Sandy had to go back home. Come to her and Danny’s surprise, Sandy and her family move and Sandy ends up going to Danny’s high school. When they first see each other, Danny isn’t the same guy she remembers him to be. After this, it’s a roller coaster ride through the movie as to whether they will be together or not.

This is one of my favorite musicals because the music in the movie is so well-known and it’s super good. Also, the overarching theme of the movie, relationships, is still very much alive in the high school atmosphere.

Despite the drama, there is some comedy that slips in every now and then. One of my personal favorite things about the movie is that they really show what life was like in the 50s. They use their slang and the crew for the movie created costumes that are spot on to the era.

“Grease” is a great movie for a day in with some friends or if you’re stuck inside due to the weather. There is a reboot of it called “Grease: Live!” as well, but the original can never be topped.

See you next time!
