Football loses second round of state playoffs

Jaguars end their season 10-1 with a loss in the second round of state playoffs to Blue Valley High School

The football team lost in the second round of state playoffs to the Blue Valley High School Tigers, 38-0, on Friday, Nov. 15.

A physical game caused sophomore quarterback Logan Koch, junior quarterback Ty Bruce and senior tight end Dylan Cole to leave the game with concussions.

Senior wide receiver Nick Wilson said that the injuries were not responsible for the loss.

“The game was just as physical as any other game we have played,” Wilson said. “[The game] just unfortunately all fell on us tonight. The injuries did give us some adversity, but it didn’t change anything. We just had an off game.”

After a strong defensive battle in the first quarter, the Tigers took an early lead and finished the game with five touchdowns and a field goal.

The Jaguars ended the 2013 season with the best record in school history, finishing 10-1.

The team will graduate 22 seniors.

Senior linebacker TJ Phillips said that this season was full of achievements due to a strong team bond.

“It’s crazy and I can’t believe [this season] is over,” Phillips said. “We worked for four years for a 10-1 record and I wouldn’t have wanted to spend it with anyone else. It feels great to accomplish that.”
