Freshman brings new talent to varsity girls golf team
Freshman Meg Green quickly becomes dedicated to golf
Freshman varsity golfer Meg Green took fifth overall on Wednesday, Aug. 28 at the Cat Classic and sixth overall on Tuesday, Sept. 3 at the Piper Invite competition. Green was excited about placing at her first high school varsity competitions.
“I like how I have fun whenever I [play golf],” Green said. “I like it when I hit a really good shot and knowing all the hard work I did paid off.”
Green started playing golf a year ago and has been dedicated to the sport since.
“[I play golf] probably 16 hours a week,” Green said. “I have to practice hard to get really good.”
According to Green the main difference between high school and competitive golf was the age groups.
“The golf I played before high school was[wide range] of ages,” Green said. “Since I’m only playing high school girls now it’s more fun to compete with people the same age as me.”
Green enjoyed her first weeks of golf because she met new teammates and became eager for the rest of the season.
“Golf is a lot of fun,” Green said. “It’s a good experience and I have met a lot of nice people.”
