At most Mill Valley wrestling meets, one can find three varsity wrestlers that not only share the same last name, but their love for the sport.

The Bendure brothers – freshman Jarrett Bendure, sophomore Jett Bendure, and junior Peyton Bendure are all varsity athletes on the wrestling team. Ever since their dad introduced them to the sport when they were little, the three brothers have been hooked, and have wrestled ever since.

One challenging aspect of the sport is weight loss to keep in their specific weight class, but family support helps.

“[Support from my brothers] helps a lot; you can’t eat as much and they will do it with me,” Jarrett said. “It’s a pretty good feeling to know that you have someone there to help and support you.”

Peyton feels that his view on each match stays the same, but there is a special learning experience in competing with Jett and Jarrett.

“[It doesn’t really] change my approach,” Peyton said. “We’re pretty much all independent, so when we are getting ready to wrestle we are by ourselves. But we are always watching the other person.”

Wrestling on the same team helps the Bendures to bond and test each of their limits.

“Each of us pushes each other and it helps us out as a team,” Jett said. “[Wrestling] just brings us closer together and helps us relate more. We just have a better time as a family.”
