Girls basketball wins El Dorado Tournament
The Lady Jaguars earned their third straight title in El Dorado
The 7-6 Lady Jaguar basketball team was crowned champion of the El Dorado tournament on Saturday Feb, 2. The team beat Augusta 41-38 the first game, then taking, the win against Circle 53-30 to advance to the championship. Then the Lady Jaguars won the tournament with a score of 50-36 against Valley Center.
Junior guard Whitney Hazlett was energized to play in the tournament because her team was ready to fight until the end.
“I was really excited and very anxious to get out there,” Hazlett said. “The team was really determined and we were going to give it our all.”
Sophomore post player Catie Kaifes said that the experience was enjoyable because her team performed well.
“I was so proud of how our team played and it was just really fun,” Kaifes said.
Hazlett was overjoyed when her team won the championship game.
“I was going crazy,” Hazlett said. “I couldn’t stop smiling on the court because I knew we had won it.”
Sophomore Erika Kringen is a first year JagWire staff member. Kringen has been involved in many sports and activities since starting high school. She has ran track, cross country and plans to join the swim team in the spring. Erika Kringen is in the musical , student ambassadors,and is a freshmen mentor this year. Kringen is looking forward to writing many stories and meeting new people while being a member of the JagWire staff.
