The girls golf team won its tournament at Paola Country Club against Spring Hill, Piper, Basehor-Linwood, St. James, Anderson Co, Gardner and Osage City on Wednesday, Sept. 19.
The joint team of the Mill Valley Jaguars and DeSoto Wildcats earned first place in the tournament. The whole team shot a score of 190. Senior Hadley Tharp shot a 46, senior Hanna Torline a 54, sophomore Holly Webb shot a 52, while junior Laurel Knust finished with a 59.
Although the team is doing very well, Knust says there’s always room for improvement.
“I think I did all-right. It wasn’t my best meet. I used it as a learning experience, and can use my mistakes and improve on them for further meets,” Knust said.
Head coach Adam Wessel is very pleased with his team and is excited to see where the season will take them.
“We got first place, so it’s hard to be disappointed when you win a tournament. We’ve actually won every tourney we’ve participated in,” Wessel said. “We’re pretty happy with the way things are going.”
