Girls tennis ties Olathe North in dual
Girls tennis learns to work as a team with only four returning regional members
The tennis team tied its dual against Olathe North on Thursday, Sept. 12, with sophomore Paige Wiebe, junior MikaelaMcCabe and junior Myesha Kennedy winning their singles matches, and Wiebe and McCabe also winning their doubles match.
The team’s efforts made head coach Alyssa Meyer very proud.
“I think we did well [in the meet],” Meyer said. “There were a lot of people playing together for the first time so everyone isgrowing and learning.”
The team tried out a new doubles team with senior Jordan Townsend and junior Taylor Felshaw who lost 8-6, but according to Meyer, it was a learning experience which helped them learn.
Only four out of six girls on last year’s regional team are playing on the team this year, so Meyer is hoping they will be successful.
“Now that people have experience playing together we can now work on skills that will help us win [in the future],” Meyer said. “I really enjoyed [the team’s] attitude; it made me happy.”
