Girls varsity tennis team loses match to Free State
Varsity girls tennis team lost 3-7 in match.
The girls tennis team lost its match against Free State on Thursday, Sept. 19. Junior Mikaela McCabe and sophomore Paige Wiebe lost their singles matches. Junior Myesha Kennedy and senior Natalie Windham lost their doubles match, while senior Jordan Townsend and junior Taylor Felshaw won their doubles match.
Despite losing the match overall, McCabe thought the team did well all together.
“Well Free State is always one of our hardest competitors, but I feel like we did pretty well against them,” McCabe said.
When getting ready to play, getting mentally prepared is just as important as being physically prepared.
“While we are playing, it’s all about strategy against your opponent, and using your strengths against them,” McCabe stated.
McCabe was happy about how the team did, and the way players handled playing against one of their toughest teams.
“We went on the court with good attitudes,” McCabe said. “We tried our best against the tough competition.”
