As she worked on her logo project for art teacher Jerry Howard’s blue one Graphic Design class, sophomore Audrey Naughton made corrections to her image using Adobe Illustrator on Wednesday, Feb. 20. Students in Graphic Design chose a company, researched the company to find out more about its competitors and target market and created a logo and stationary for the company.
“Most students find out as they do [the project] that it’s not as easy as they thought it would be,” Howard said. “You have to consider so many things when creating a logo, not just what looks good.”
Naughton chose Spring Shores Screen Printing as her company, and designed a logo that involved palm trees.
“I was pretty happy [with the outcome] because I had an idea in mind and I feel like I accomplished that idea,” Naughton said.
After completing their project, students participated in a critique and then made changes to their project based on the feedback they received.
“[The hardest part was] going back and fixing the corrections,” Naughton said. “[I just had to] make it as close to perfect as possible.”
Despite this, Naughton said she enjoyed completing the project.
“It was just fun and I enjoyed it,” Naughton said. “If I had the choice I would do it again.”
