On Thursday, Dec. 11, GSA members set out an informational table on Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender bullying and same-sex marriage in front of the counseling office before class.

Students walked up to the table and either received a red or purple ribbon attached to a pin with a piece of paper with information on the topic. The red ribbon showed support of anti-bullying of the LGBT community and and the purple showed support for same-sex marriage.

Sophomore GSA member Rhiannon O’Brien said the table was dedicated to the legalization of same-sex marriage and LGBT equality.

“[The table] is mostly just showing us about how we’d like to celebrate how far we’ve come in the past year,” O’Brien said.

Junior GSA member Aidan Quinn agrees and said the table is meant to spread a positive message.

“[GSA] is just trying to say we accept everyone,” Quinn said.

Quinn also said people had varied reactions to the table but O’Brien noted the reactions as “mostly positive”.

O’Brien also said she appreciates the efforts of GSA.

“I’ve always liked activism,” O’Brien said. “Personally, it hits home really hard.”
