Despite that the state tournament was already over for them, the volleyball team went into its match game against St. James on Friday, Oct. 26, with upbeat attitudes.

The team lost two matches prior to the St. James match, meaning the third match would have no effect on their advancement in state play. But that did not put too much of a damper on the team. The jaguars lost to St. James 25-17 the first set and 25-12 the second set.

“We realized that since we weren’t going to go any further we had nothing to lose, so we went out there and had fun,” senior defensive specialist Molly Kelley said. “It didn’t show on the court that it was our last game, it was the after effect it had on us all.”

Looking back on the season, seniors Molly Miller and Molly Kelley only thought of positive points and memories throughout the season.

“We didn’t look back on the season and say ‘wow we lost we had a bad season.’ We looked back at the season as a whole and said ‘We had a great season,’” Kelley said. “We were sub-state champions and undefeated in our league. We won a 6A tournament and the McPherson tournament.”

New head volleyball coach Whitney Revelle started off her coaching career on a good note, with taking the team all the way to state her first year.

“She was very supportive about it and explaining to us about how we’ve had a great season and how we’re a great group of girls,” senior defensive specialist Molly Miller said.
