The student section stormed the basketball court after a 79-77 overtime victory against Piper High School on Friday, Dec. 6. Senior Nick Friesner said the student section played a part in the win.

“It was very intense and everyone was really into the game,” Friesner said. “Including the student section who helped push us through our low moments.”

The Jaguars trailed the Pirates in the first half but tied it up in the second half, pushing the game into overtime.

“We were ecstatic because we fought back into the game,” Friesner said. “We felt we could finish it the way we wanted to.”

Friesner shot a layup when he was fouled and was given one free throw in the last three seconds of the game, bringing the score to 79-77, giving the Jaguars a victory at their home-opener.

“It was really nerve wracking because everyone was watching me,” Friesner said. “Logan made a great move to get me the opportunity and it was an amazing play.”
