Now that its submission period is over, members of the literary magazine will begin to work on the magazine’s production.

Preparations include selecting submissions, designing and formatting the magazine and planning for sales. Senior editor-in-chief Madeline Grube said this will require members to work outside of school.

“In a few weeks to maybe a month, we’re going to be having our own work nights after school,” Grube said.

The literary magazine secured funding from the Booster Club earlier this year to improve its quality in its second year. Grube sees this a positive change for the magazine.

“It’s going to be professionally bound in color and glossy, which is really exciting and a step up from last year,” Grube said.

While working on the magazine, not all literary magazine members work directly on the production. Senior Monica Brich will be figuring out details of the magazine’s sales.

“Since I can’t do all the computer stuff, I’ll be figuring out when we’re selling it [and] how much we want to price it for,” Brich said.

With the Booster Club funding, Brich hopes to increase magazine sales.

“[I want] to sell more, since we got funding this year,” Brich said. “I think they should hopefully sell more.”

In addition to sales, Grube said she might want to enter the magazine in a literary magazine contest.

“I was really interested in maybe submitting the magazine for an award,” Grube said. “I just want to get the word out about the magazine.”

With its publication, Grube hopes the magazine will make students want to create content in the future.

“I want to create a really good looking magazine that inspires people to write and draw and submit it,” Grube said. “I think this year we can make a bigger impact.”
