Peace of Mind: Introduction

Margaret Mellott, JagWire editor-in-chief

The line between freaking out and shutting down can be very thin, but neither of those are good responses to the daily stresses of my life. School, work, extracurriculars and maintaining a social life often put me on that line. But in the past couple years, I have been exploring ways to find balance in my life so I don’t end up there.

During my freshman year, my mom introduced to me to meditation. At first, I thought it was silly, but, once I sat down to meditate, I felt relaxed and my head was clear. Since then, I’ve been researching ways to reconnect mind, body and spirit to find more ways to calm myself. Meditation, and then earthing, made me want to learn more about the many ways people seek peace.

Finding peace and creating balance in this new era of our post-millennial generation is too often something we don’t even know we need to do, let alone how. Learning how to calm the mind and body can help both mental and physical health. Thankfully, there are many ways to learn how to reconnect.

In this blog, I will be exploring different methods and ideas to help you create balance in your life. Some methods are simple, like deep breathing, and others can be more challenging, like yoga. My hope is that you will learn something you didn’t know, will find something that helps you and, that eventually, you will find Peace of Mind.
