Preparing to start a lesson over families and celebrations on Tuesday, April 18, Spanish teacher Jennifer Dillon lines up a copy of a birthday song with the grids on the cutting board during her plan period. “A big part of the culture is songs that are handed down, so I wanted students to learn the traditional Mexican happy birthday song,” Dillon said. “I printed out a sheet and cut it in half so that each student would have a sheet of the lyrics to learn the song.”
