“Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded” review

"Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded" review

If there’s any Friday you should be looking forward to (cough cough Rebecca Black), it should be Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, Nicki Minaj’s sophomore album. Following her 2010 debut album Pink Friday, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded was officially released last Tuesday, April 3. Many people may not suspect me of being a Minaj fan, but you can bet that I was at Target as soon as I could be picking up the deluxe version.

I can confidently say that I love this album; it was incredibly well-done and far surpasses my expectations. Although Minaj first begin as an underground hip-hop rap artist releasing mixtapes, she has proven to be deserving of a genre of her own. Having crossed over into pop and Top 40, this album is a melting pot. Whether you’re in the mood for hardcore rap or pop hits perfect for summer, this album suits practically everyone (besides country music fans, most likely).

Tracks like “Beez In The Trap” and “Roman Reloaded” are just a few that showcase Minaj’s skills in rapping, reminding listeners how she quickly succeeded at becoming one of the top female rappers of today. Her talent is complemented by a handful of collaborations included on the album, including Chris Brown who is featured on one of my favorite tracks “Right By My Side.” While you may have heard the popular single “Starships,” the dance hits don’t end there. Whether you’re at a party or dancing around in your bathroom, tracks like “Pound the Alarm” and “Va Va Voom” (only featured on the deluxe version) are perfect.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but it’s nearly impossible to put any amount of words on an album. As soon as you’re done reading this, go buy Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded (the deluxe edition has three extra tracks) and hear it for yourself. Really. You won’t regret it.
