Prayer Box Cafe is a nice local coffee shop that is worth checking out

Prayer Box Cafe is a new coffee shop, located at 5428 Roberts St. It has a pleasant and relaxing environment along with great food and drinks.

The cafe is open from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fridays, and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the weekends. To keep in touch with the Prayer Box Cafe you can follow them on Instagram (@prayerboxcafe.kc).

When walking into Prayer Box, the first thing I noticed was the large, bland sign above the building. The sign says “coffee” which could be confusing if I wasn’t sure where I was going. However, there is also a nice seating area outside the building. There are multiple red wooden chairs that are great to sit at when it’s nice outside.

Unlike the sign, the interior of the cafe is exciting and cute. The wall is filled with artwork and QR codes that provide the artist’s information. The tables and chairs were laid out really nicely and all the furniture was modern and simplistic. Additionally, the service was amazing! The workers were super attentive and kind. My food and drink were done almost immediately after I ordered them. The workers also did a great job of keeping the place clean.

I ordered a honey lavender iced latte with oat milk. I loved this latte. It was sweet, but not too sweet and had a nice balance of sweetness and coffee flavor. I was also able to actually taste the lavender which was nice.

As for the food, Prayer Box has tons of great breakfast options and even has many gluten-free options. I tried the avocado toast and the gluten-free chocolate donut. The avocado toast had feta cheese, tomatoes and a super fresh, lemony taste. The gluten-free donut was great. It had a nice chocolate taste and is super dense. I loved both of these and would definitely order them again.

Overall, I would rate my experience a 9/10 for the cute interior and the great coffee and food. I would definitely recommend going to Prayer Box for your next coffee run.
