The Robotics team is traveling to St. Louis for regionals Friday, March 23-Saturday, March 24. The team is leaving on Wednesday, March 21 during seminar, and they will practice on Thursday, March 22. The competition starts on Friday, March 23.
Sophomore Alyssa Hobson thinks the past competitions have helped prepare them.
“I think we will do well. The extra practice and experience from the last competition will help us,” Hobson said. “We fixed a lot of different problems we had previously.”
Junior Megan Ring agrees.
“We’ve gone over scouting a lot, which is asking other teams how their robot works,” Ring said. “The drivers practiced driving a lot at the last competition on the practice fields.”
The team has spent lots of time on improving its robot.
“We spent six weeks on the robot and also a couple weeks in between regional competitions,” sophomore Joe Gunter said. “The mechanical team worked on getting gear boxes to help the robot drive well.”
Gunter thinks the team will do well.
“We feel very confident, we flushed out all the problems we had from our first regional,” Gunter said.
The team placed 17th out of 64 teams in the last competition on Thursday, March 1-Saturday, March 3.
