Robotics team travels to Regionals in Arkansas
The Robotics team traveled to Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas last weekend to compete in the Regional Tournament.
The Robotics team earned sixth place in a five-day Regional Tournament at Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas on Sunday, March 9.
The team had a six-week limit to create their robot which had to throw a ball or assist other robots in catching a ball and making a goal.
“The most difficult part was building the robot in six weeks and getting it to function,” freshman Austin Snyder said.
Sophomore Sarah Soriano said she felt successful after the team learned of its placing.
“It was pretty exciting and it surprised me a little,” Soriano said. “[Science teacher Mary Beth] Mattingly and [robotics sponsor Ann] Ring were pretty excited about it.”
Soriano said the trip was a positive experience.
“It was really great to travel with the team and meet teams from places I’ve never been to,” Soriano said. “It was a really unique experience.”
The Robotics team will compete this weekend, Thursday, March 13-15, in Kansas City at the Kansas City FIRST Robotics Competition.
