In order to provide better nutrition for students, breakfast is now being served in the morning in the commons, starting at 7:30 a.m.
“We hope that [students will] see that it’s a better option than McDonald’s or a vending machine or just not eating breakfast at all,” district nutritionist Amy Droegemeier said. “…We hope that students will recognize that this is a quick and easy way for them to get the needs that breakfast provides.”
The school will continue to do this throughout the rest of the year. Two other schools, Lexington Trails Middle School and Starside Elementary School, have both already been serving breakfast this year. Clear Creek Elementary held a two-week trial and plans to serve breakfast starting next year. A trial will begin at De Soto High School in the coming weeks.
