Last Thursday, the Silver Stars dance team performed their annual spring show. According to junior Addison Maier the show requires a lot of preparation.
“[The music] was chosen by the team. We all voted, or somebody would bring up an idea, and we would all agree on it,” Maier said.
The team has been working on multiple routines for the past couple of weeks.
“We practiced every first hour for a class period, and then we practiced after school on Tuesdays,” Maier said. “[Choreographing] was mostly a team effort for some [routines], but the different ensemble groups consisting of those specific people worked on their own. And sometimes we would split up the class.”
At their spring show the dancers also perform with their Silver Studs. Practice wise, the Silver Studs had a somewhat different experience. Junior Parker Riffel shares his perspective as a Silver Stud.
“We had two practices the week before the performance in the mornings,” Riffel said. “They were right before school, about an hour long.”
Riffel was inspired to do Silver Studs this year after watching upperclassmen perform last year.
“A lot of my friends were doing it, and it sounded like fun [after] watching them last year,” Riffel said.
Along with many other traditions, the Silver Star showcase has been a tradition for almost as long as the school has been open.
“It happens every year, this was our 23rd year doing it,” Maier said.
