Playing basketball since fourth grade, sophomore basketball player Drew Boatwright plans on a great season individually and as a team.
“This year I hope to really gain some wisdom from the upperclassmen,” Boatwright said. “I’d like to focus on playing as one unit.”
Last season, Boatwright played on the freshman “A” team as a forward and helped the team to produce a 4-2 record. The basketball season starts in December and goes into the middle of March. This season, Boatwright hopes to play at the varsity level and contribute to the team as much as possible.
“I’ve been practicing a solid three hours a day,” Boatwright said. “Constantly playing for the last couple of months should help me be at the top of my game.”
Boatwright thinks that the team can produce more solid results this season as long as they work together. In previous years, the players just have not been as close as they need to be.
“Everyone needs to come together this year and work as one family, one tribe,” Boatwright said. “If we can just play our best and work well with one another I could see us placing high at state.”
