Spectacular coming of age story has up to par movie adaptation
Stephen Chbosky’s “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” is amazing as both a book and a movie
Hilarious and emotional, Stephen Chbosky’s “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” is the story of the awkward Charlie’s freshman year of high school. In the book, Charlie befriends two seniors, the charming Sam and her flamboyantly hilarious stepbrother, Patrick. Through a series of letters, Charlie tells of his endeavors with them, and the struggles of being in high school.
The movie lives up to the expectations set by the book. While some elements change and adult content is more understated, the general plot stays the same. Logan Lerman’s portrayal of Charlie is OK, but Emma Watson and Ezra Miller embody Sam and Patrick, respectively, in amazing ways. Overall, “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” is a phenomenal book with a great movie adaptation, both of which will leave you feeling infinite.
