This is sophomore Julia Fair’s first year on the JagWire staff. She is very excited to be working as a reporter and photographer. Outside of newspaper, she can be found roasting marshmallows with MV Outfitters. In her free time, Julia enjoys spending time with friends, hammocking and binging Netflix shows.

Austin Properties filed to have the land near Woodsonia and K-7 rezoned to allow for multi-family and single-family homes. On Thursday, Dec. 23. city council meeting council members voted 4-4 against the rezoning and construction of Austin Properties proposed plans.

The Repertory Theatre class put on the musical Fantasticks on Thursday, Feb. 20. Fantasticks is a musical about two families, a father and his daughter who live by a father and his son. The two fathers built a wall to keep their children apart, but they find their way and they end up falling in love. The two lovers are Matt and Lusia played by junior Leif Campbell and senior Analiese Wilhauk.

To help break ties and eliminate competitors in the tournament, teams played a new game. The participants had to hold one hand behind their back while trying to keep balloons in the air between them and their partner. The tournament was held Wednesday, Jan. 29 by the Relay for Life committee. The event was held to help raise money and get the word out about the upcoming event Relay for Life.

To help relieve stress for everyone at the tournament, the debate team’s rented therapy dog, Paisleigh, plays with freshman Alex Cobin.

Helping with part of the tournament held at Monticello Trails Middle School, junior Parker Trollinger worked the concessions.
