Blog: Stray from the straightener
We’re a quarter of the way through the school year and I’m already done with putting forth effort in the morning, namely, straightening my hair. My new quarter resolution: spending less time on my hair in the morning (and more time frantically finishing homework from the night before). Here’s some advice for taking your bedhead from chaotic to classy, while spending less time getting ready.
If you’re like me, and you wake up to naturally ratchet hair in the mornings, you don’t need to run to the straightener automatically. Your hair problems can be solved without frying it with heated hair tools. Just put a little styling oil in it (I use Moroccan Argan Oil by Organix, available at CVS), brush it out and you’re done.
However, if your hair is especially crazy without the use of heat, there’s always updos. Cut your losses, grab some bobby pins and put your hair up. If you happen to be a little hair challenged, no worries- YouTube tutorials can be total lifesavers when it comes to learning new hairstyles. (I look to Luxy Hair, Dulce Candy, Beauty by Carli Bybel and Cute Girls Hairstyles on Youtube for hair advice).
By avoiding excess heat you can drastically reduce the amount of damage to your ends. In time, you’ll be able to grow your hair healthier and longer.
