The first home tennis meet of the season took place on Wednesday, March 28. The doubles team of sophomores Parker Hunt and Nathan Tolle was the only to place for the Jaguars.

Senior Tyler Owsley was pleased with the team’s effort.

“We did pretty well,” Owsley said. “It’s hard to tell before the tournaments how good the other people are going to be…There was a lot of really good competition there, including some guys that have a chance to go deep in state.”

Although only one team placed at the tournament, Owsley is optimistic about the team’s potential.

“We’ve got a lot of young players who are really good,” Owsley said. “This year is mostly about looking towards the future. Out of the top ten varsity players, eight of them are sophomores. I think it’s a good thing for the future of the team because they’ll definitely be good in a couple of years.”

The next tennis meet will take place at home on Tuesday, April 3 at 3:30 p.m. against Olathe North High School.
