This year ceramics teacher Bryan Lloyd started the ceramics club. The goal of the club is to give students time after school to work on projects of their choice.
Ceramics club sponsor Bryan Lloyd, explains what the environment is like.
“The environment is pretty relaxed, but it can also be a place where a lot of things are going on all at once,” Lloyd said. “It is an open studio format, so there’s no specific projects that students are working on, they just get to choose whatever they want to make.”
Junior Liberty Bouskil enjoys the ceramics club because of the relaxed atmosphere.
“It’s really fun and chill, Mr. Lloyd makes things really fun. We also have music playing,” Bouskil said.
Junior Kaitlyn Shinkle echoed Bouskil’s statement, expressing the club has a good environment.
“You can create whatever you want. Everybody there is also really nice,” Shinkle said.
Bouskil explains why she decided to join the club.
“I took the ceramics class and I really enjoyed it, so I wanted to join the club too. This way I could also have a bit of extra time to finish my projects,” Bouskil said. “Now that we’re in the new semester, I’m not in the class anymore. I still enjoy it though, and now that’s the only time that I can practice wheel throwing,”
“In high school I decided that I wanted to go into ceramics,” Lloyd said. “We would listen to classic rock on the radio. It was such a great environment to be in to work with clay.”
The club is the perfect opportunity for students to learn about the art of ceramics or further improve on their skills. The club meets every other week on Wednesdays after school from 3:00-4:30
