The school’s Repertory Theatre class put on the musical, “Holiday Inn,” Wednesday, Dec. four through Friday, Dec. six. Unlike the fall musical, Footloose, this musical took place in the little theater.
Sophomore Lacey Jennings, who played the lead woman, Linda, explains how the size of the theater affects the audience.
“In the Little Theater, there are not too many seats, so I thought that it was a good turnout,” Jennings said.
In contrast, senior Logan Koester, who played the charming ladies’ man Ted Hanover, explains his opinion that the turnout for the musical was due to the lack of student interest.
“The student turnout was not as great as we expected it to be,” Koester said. “It’s just mainly our friends and family there, so we always hope every year that more students that don’t know the cast will show up.”
Although the student turnout was underwhelming, the Repertory Theatre class put a lot of work into the production. Jennings explains how many hours she has spent on the musical and for how long.
“50 to 100 hours of work, It’s a lot, we’ve been working on this since mid-June,” Jennings said.
Since a lot of work has been put into the musical, both Jennings and Koester were satisfied with the result. Koester explains how it was truly being put together until the last second, but the result was still good.
“We put it together in the last home stretch,” Koester said. “Even if it wasn’t where everyone wanted it to be, we were satisfied with what it was.”
Jennings explains that she thought the musical got better and better with each performance instead of being the same every night.
“We got better every night we put on the show and I was really proud of it,” Jennings said.
