The school’s second Trunk-or-Treat was held by Diversity Club and UNICEF on October 30 with 10 different student clubs participating.
The goal of Trunk-or-Treat, was to bring a variety of people together for a community event.
“It is a safe way to unify the school and serve the community at the same time,” social studies teacher Kelly Warren said.
Although the participants were teenagers, Trunk-or-Treat was very well prepared to get little kids involved. Among other games brought to the event were Plinko, hopscotch, and pin the face on the pumpkin.
Senior Cassie Gerhart feels that the kids enjoyed seeing students dressed up as their favorite Disney characters and handing out candy.
“This one little girl started dancing to ‘Single Ladies’ when it came on, which was really cute,” Gerhart said.
As much fun as both students and Trunk-or-Treaters had at the event, sophomore Hugh Ebb feels it could have been better.
“If we did things a little more in advance it would just go smoother,” Ebb said. “Plus we could have done a better job with letting people know when it was going on.”
Even with less advertising, there were more Mill Valley students who showed up than previous years, with a mixture of students involved in different activities.
“I think we were really successful in bringing the clubs together,” Warren said. “We did a good job unifying a variety of organizations around one thing.”
