Varsity boys to compete in Coffeyville tournament

The Jaguars boys varsity basketball team will travel to Coffeyville, Kan. on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. for a tournament.

The tournament will consist of three games, and the Jaguars will face off against Parkville High School in the first round at 8:45 p.m. on Thursday.

Junior guard Jake Theis is excited for the tournament, because he thinks it will showcase the talent that the Jaguars have.

“This will be a fun experience being around the team and playing teams that we haven’t played before,” Theis said. “We’ll show them that we can compete with anyone.”

If the Jaguars win their first two games, then they will go on to play for the tournament championship at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21.

Junior guard Kyle Kain thinks that the Jaguars have a good chance of making it to the championship game.

“We play harder than any team,” Kain said. “We’ve practiced really hard and that should be evident during the tournament.”
