The softball team traveled to 3&2 on Tuesday, April 22 where the took victory over Piper.

The girls softball team was victorious over Piper High School on Tuesday, April 22, winning 4-3 in the first game and 11-3 in the second. These wins improve the team’s record to 9-3.

According to junior catcher Lacie Myers, the Pirates were a challenging team to beat.

“I felt really happy [about the games] because we won against Piper, and they are very tough competition,” Myers said. “I was happy with the way our team played.”

Despite being down for the majority of the first game, the players remained positive and continued to work hard, which Myers attributes to their victory.

“Everyone just stayed up and had lots of energy,” Myers said. “I think what motivated us most was how much we wanted to win because we really needed those two wins after getting swept by Basehor last week.”

While the evening ended in success for the Jaguars, the games proved difficult.

“The most challenging part of the game was not making errors,” sophomore pitcher Rienna Schriner said.

Schriner said the team is focusing on preparing their skills for their next game.

“For the next game, we want to hit a lot better, to stop popping up and hitting right to [the other team],” Schriner said.

Varsity softball will play on Thursday, April 24 against Blue Valley Northwest.
