Volleyball qualified for the 6A state championship tournament for the first time since 2014 by defeating Blue Valley Northwest 2-1 Saturday, Oct. 22. The volleyball team also played against Olathe East and won 2-0. Senior Madeline Schnepf describes her feelings about Saturday’s performance.
“I’m most proud of how the team fought the whole game and never gave up,” Schnepf said.
Junior Addison Bailey shares similar feelings about the energy on the court.
“I was most proud of the way I was able to come off the bench and bring an energy that the team needed to push through in the third set and play at our highest,” Bailey said. “Having a lot of energy, especially in a championship game, is very important and helps a lot in deciding sets.”
Additionally, Schnepf explains how she felt at the beginning of the game.
“At the beginning of the game I was really nervous,” Schnepf said. “Then I got fired up and really wanted to win.”
Bailey describes how the team is going to prepare this week for the state game.
“Practice is going to be really focused but also fun and competitive,” Bailey said. “This will help calm nerves and help us improve a lot before state.”
Schnepf also describes the pride she feels in the team.
“I’m proud of how this team has worked hard in order to make it to state,” Schnepf said. “It’s really rewarding to see our hard work paid off.”
Overall, Bailey shares her thoughts on the season as a whole up until this point.
“I’m most proud of the way our team has fought and proven ourselves,” Bailey said. “I’m also proud of the seniors for the way they have stepped up and led us this season.”
