As the school year progresses and Homecoming draws closer, yet another change has been made to the week.

 This year, nominations for Homecoming court will be chosen by the senior class and then final voting will be done by the entire student body. Seniors will vote to nominate five boys and five girls for Homecoming king and queen.

“A lot of times the lowerclassmen don’t know the senior class well enough,” StuCo sponsor Erica Crist said. “Seniors should be able to nominate who they want.”

Students have different views on the subject.

“Personally, I think it would be better if the entire school nominated just because you would get the opinion of the entire student body,” freshman Brienna Kendall said.

Junior Lisa Galvan partly agrees withKendall.

“I don’t agree with [the changes] but I understand why they were made,” she said. “I just think I’ve gotten used to nominating as a whole school.”

Galvan also believes the changes will have an effect on how students feel towards Homecoming this year, especially when so many negative feelings were spurred by the problems surrounding last year’s dances.

“I think this year Homecoming will go over better but I think that people will already start thinking negatively about it because of this small change,” Galvan said.

Senior Austin Becker, however, is not in that category.

“I don’t really think it changes my attitude,” he said. “I think it’s good that they’re just having seniors nominate because a lot of freshmen don’t know seniors. I think it’s a good change.”
