Wrestler places fifth, third year in a row at state

Wrestling in the 108 weight class, junior Landon Scott wrapped up his wrestling season by placing fifth in state for the third time in a row. Scott was the first person to do this in the history of school wrestling. With a lot of hard work, Scott said it was rewarding to place in state for the third season in a row. While staying very consistant the entire season, Scott was able to continue his season to make his third time appearance at the state meet in Wichita.

“All the hard work has finally paid off. After months of practice and getting in mind what needs to be done, it’s a really awesome feeling,” Scott said.

Although he expected to place higher, Scott says he wasn’t disappointed with the results.

“I wasn’t disappointed but I thought I could have done a little bit better,” Scott said. “All I can do is work harder next year.”

Throughout the season Scott felt he had a solid record that led him to his state placement. Being his third time getting into state, he kind of knew he would place again.

“You kind of have to expect it until someone proves you wrong,” Scott said.
