Wrestling team wins at home meet

The Jaguar wrestling team beat Blue Valley North at its home meet on Wednesday, Jan. 23. The team added to its dual record of 2-1.

“We did very well at the meet and the team is improving every day,” sophomore Sebastian Uriate said.

While training hard at practice and pushing themselves everyday to reach their goals, the members of the team hope to get better with their technique, qualify everyone for state and hopefully win a state championship.

“Something we need to work on is our work effort,” junior Jake Ellis said. “We aren’t working as hard as we did last year.”

Uriate disagrees with this statement.

“The team has been working really hard and we are making good efforts in becoming a better team,” Uriate said. “Wrestling is such an individual sport; if you lose you can’t blame anyone but yourself.”

The team has great goals for this year and it is working hard to bring home a state championship.
